This is the first time for me celebrating my birthday in Singapore.
Yesterday, when I was thinking that I wouldn't have my big family around me
I thought this will be the dullest birthday of all....
I guess, I was wrong :)
Right at 00:00 this morning, my family called from Jakarta and sang Happy Birthday for me.
Later one of my best friends, Nita, sent me a text message.
After that Bubu called and sent another message for me.
Then I went to bed peacefully, knowing that people of my closest circle remembered and cared about me.
Then I woke up because of the telephone rang.
It turned out to be my Ko Edo and Kak Rizka, my parents from the bible study group.
I was kinda shocked since at the beginning Ko Edo talked in English.
The first thing came to my mind was that my HOD (Head of Department) called me.
Hahahahahahaha.
Then I tried to sleep again, but my auntie and grandpa called from Medan.
My grandpa wrote down every family member's birthday.
From his children to grand and great grandchildren.
Since I was little, my grandparents always call me on my birthday and say their wishes for my future days.
Thank you Pung, it means a lot to me.
Then....
My parents called me again.
My pa, as usual was playing the piano and singing Happy Birthday again.
He is a natural piano player, gifted one, able to play a song just by listening it once.
He also composes songs..
Awesome right :P
Thank you...
After that, I decided to fully wake up and greet the new day.
I opened my email and YM.
My friends sent me some birthday cards.
One came from the leader of my bible study group in high school, Kak Berti.
It's been years since I met her for the last time.
Really feel blessed that she still remembers me.
Thank you kak.
Other cards were from Mia (choir member) and Nita (one of my best friends).
Later, when I checked my email after church.
I found that my sistas from ITB sent me messages also, Irma and Beckha.
Long time friends from high school days also sent their messages and emails.
Felt so blessed....
Never thought that they still remember
and they still care
Thank you...
Then I went to Vivo city to meet Nita.
She waited more than 1 hour for me, since I stay at the Jatinangor of Singapore (Boon Lay).
She bought tart and cakes for me. The tart is so cute with Hello Kitty carving on top of it :)
She said that she bought me the Hello Kitty one instead of Tom & Jerry because she wanted me to be more feminine. Hahahaha.
Thank you...
I left Vivo to attend Sunday service at GRII in Queenstown.
Along the way in the MRT, I replied messages from my friends at ITB, my uncles and aunties, my cousins and other family members.
Oh yeah, I have the same birthday as my uncle who stays in Medan.
In fact, he gave me the name " Naomi" which he dreamed about on the night that I was born.
I always love to have the same birthday as he does.
It's like having a twin brothers, only this one is years older than me :D
Thank you da...
I attended the service.
The sermon today was about Abraham and Isaac.
Abraham obeyed God's words to give Isaac as an offering.
It was a very difficult test for Abraham, since he waited 100 years to get the promise child, Isaac. Waited for 100 years and then God asked him to kill and give Isaac back to God.
Ok, back to birthday.
After the service over, I wanted to walk down the stairs, ready to walk fast to the Hawker's center across the MRT station.
Then, Husen called me and told me to go upstairs to talk about something.
I walked upstairs and then I saw the cake, candles and my bros and sistas.
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
That was what they were singing.
and I saw two big candles with three smaller ones for my 23th birthday!!!
Whoaa, cool..!!
Thank you all.
I never expected this to happen.
In fact, I feel that I don't deserve that.
I am not a good friend.. that was what I think and still do.
but, with the humblest heart, I received this warm celebration and thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you
Best Regards,
Sheila
